404. A command that a supervisor refuses answers 403 with the reason.
Every execution and node control call, except retry, returns
data.executionId, the id of the execution it acted on. The deprecated /api/workflow/{sessionId}/{executionId}/... forms of these calls are listed under deprecated aliases.
Pause and resume a run
POST /api/executions/{executionId}/pause
POST /api/executions/{executionId}/resume
Pausing applies backpressure to the whole run, so nodes stop taking new work until you resume. The run’s controlState becomes PAUSED, then RESUMED.
Pause and resume a node
POST /api/executions/{executionId}/nodes/{nodeId}/pause
POST /api/executions/{executionId}/nodes/{nodeId}/resume
Pauses or resumes one node; the rest of the run keeps going. Errors: 404 if the node does not exist or cannot be paused.
Stop a node
POST /api/executions/{executionId}/nodes/{nodeId}/stop
Errors:
404 if the node does not exist or cannot be stopped.
Skip or unskip a node
POST /api/executions/{executionId}/nodes/{nodeId}/skip
A skipped node passes its input through unchanged instead of running its plugin. Only processor nodes can be skipped.
Errors:
400 if the node is not a processor, 404 if the node does not exist.
Step through a node
POST /api/executions/{executionId}/nodes/{nodeId}/step/enable
POST /api/executions/{executionId}/nodes/{nodeId}/step/disable
POST /api/executions/{executionId}/nodes/{nodeId}/step
Step mode makes a node hold its input so you can watch it one element at a time. Enable it, call step once per element to let exactly one through, and disable it to return to normal flow.
Retry a failed node
POST /api/executions/{executionId}/nodes/{nodeId}/retry
Starts a new run from a node that ended FAILURE or TIMED_OUT. The nodes before it replay their recorded output; the node and everything behind it run again. The original run is left as it was.
Response data: executionId of the new run.
Errors: 404 if the run or node is unknown, 400 if the node did not fail.
Set and clear a breakpoint
POST /api/executions/{executionId}/nodes/{nodeId}/breakpoint
DELETE /api/executions/{executionId}/nodes/{nodeId}/breakpoint
A breakpoint holds a node before the first element whose field equals a value. Resume the node to continue.
DELETE takes no parameters. Errors: 404 if the node does not exist or cannot hold a breakpoint.
Send a signal to a node
POST /api/executions/{executionId}/nodes/{nodeId}/signal
Releases or rejects a node that waits for a named signal, such as a WAIT_FOR_SIGNAL approval step. Find waiting nodes with the pending approvals list. See Approvals and signals.
Errors:
409 if the node is not waiting for that signal, 404 if the run or node is unknown.
Control states
ThecontrolState of an execution status reports the latest operator command. Its values are PAUSED, RESUMED, NODE_PAUSED, NODE_RESUMED, NODE_STEPPED, NODE_STOPPED, NODE_SKIPPED, NODE_UNSKIPPED, STEP_MODE_ENABLED, STEP_MODE_DISABLED and STOPPING. It is separate from the run status and never ends a run by itself.
List active nodes
GET /api/control/nodes
GET /api/control/workflows/{workflowId}/nodes
Lists the nodes registered on the control bus, that is nodes that have sent a heartbeat. The first call covers all workflows, the second one workflow.
Response data: an array of node ids.
Read a node’s heartbeat
GET /api/control/workflows/{workflowId}/nodes/{nodeId}/heartbeat
Returns the most recent heartbeat message of a node, as a message object in data.
Send a command to a node
POST /api/control/workflows/{workflowId}/nodes/{nodeId}/command
Sends an administrative command to a node through the control bus and returns the node’s answer. The body is a bare JSON object with 1 to 100 entries. Which commands a node understands depends on its plugin. Approval signals cannot be sent this way and are refused with 403; use the signal endpoint.
Response data: payload, what the node answered.
List control commands
GET /api/control/audit
Lists the newest control commands recorded in the execution log, whether applied or refused, with who sent them. Newest first.
Response
data: an array of entries.
